Weapons used by Navy SEALs

Navy SEALs Weapons

Because the Navy SEALs operate in demanding and challenging circumstances, from the water, air or land, SEALs adapt to nearly any environment using teamwork, training and high-tech equipment to accomplish their missions. SEAL operations require a diverse range of equipment.

Lets take a look at some of the preferred weapons of the SEALs.

Assult Rifles

AR-15 A2

As a lightweight and compact platform, the AR15 provides law enforcement with the performance and accuracy for targets outside the handgun range. This is a more light weight and compact model of the M16A2.

The M16A2 semiautomatic rifle is the standard by which all military rifles of the future will be judged. This variant of the M16 fires a three-round burst in semiautomatic operation. The system incorporates an adjustable rear sight which corrects for both wind and elevation, a heavier barrel with 1-in-7 rifling, and a muzzle compensator to prevent muzzle climb during semiautomatic operation. The M16A2 is capable of firing all NATO standard 5.56mm ammunition and can fire 40mm grenades when equipped with the M203 Grenade Launcher.

Machine guns and Sub machine guns

The M60 Series 7.62mm Machine Gun has been the U.S. Army's general purpose medium machine gun since the late 1950s.The M60 fires standard NATO 7.62mm ammunition and is used as a general support crew-served weapon. It has a removable barrel which can be easily changed to prevent overheating. The weapon has an integral, folding bipod and canalso be mounted on a folding tripod. The M60 Series is being replaced by the M240B 7.62mm medium machine gun

A highly reliable CQB (close quarter battle)weapon. The MP5 uses a 9mm caliber round, this combined with the fact that it uses closed bolt position during all forms of fire makes this weapon highly controllable, even with its high rate of fire.
The other advantage of this weapon is the fact that it has a Collapsible stock, and its light weight make it easy to Maneuver in tight spaces. The MP5 is used in more than 50 nations as its law enforcement units.

Hand Guns

Berreta M9

A semi-automatic, double-action pistol, the M9 is more lethal, lighter, and safer than its predecessors. The M9 is carried by crew-served weapon crewmen and by others who have a personal defense requirement, such as law enforcement personnel and aviators. It replaces the M1911A1 .45 cal. pistol and the .38 cal. revolver.

Sig Sauer P226

Chambered for the globally accepted 9mm Luger cartridge or the powerful new .357 SIG cartridge, the P226 is the traditional choice of those law enforcement officers who want the satisfying heft and authoritative appearance of a full size autoloader. Reliable, accurate and easily maintained, the P226 was originally selected by the FBI as a primary handgun. Since then, special units of the military and hundreds of law enforcement agencies have followed the FBI's lead. The .357 SIG model features a one piece, precision machined, blackened, stainless steel slide
